NAYDEN TODOROV
NAYDEN TODOROV was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He received his first piano lessons at age five and by sixteen had led his first concert as conductor. He studied conducting and composition at the State Conservatory in Sofia and later at the Vienna Music Academy.
Following his studies in Bulgaria and Austria,he went to Jerusalem, where he served as resident conductor with the Israel Symphony Orchestra in Haifa.
From 1995 to 1997 Maestro Todorov was the recipient of scholarships from the international Georg Wachter foundation in Switzerland. He won prizes at the Svetoslav Obretenov national competition, the competition for Czech music, as well as the Special Prize of the Slovakian music funds, the Borghese Foundation Prize, the Sdravko Manolov Prize, also he received the Sofia Prize for the production of the opera Faust by Gounod with Sofia National Opera.
He has conducted various orchestras in Europe (Germany, Austria, Spain, England, France), Asia and America. Also he undertook extensive tours to Europe and the United States with the Plovdiv State Orchestra and the Bulgarian National Philharmonic
In 2000 Nayden Todorov became Music Director of the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2003 he became Music Director of the Burgas State Opera and in 2005 he was chosen as principal guest conductor at the Bulgarian National Philharmonic Orchestra in Sofia - the first and foremost orchestra in Bulgaria.
He is regular conducting at the Bulgarian National Opera in Sofia and since 1997 he is director of the International Music festival THRACIAN SUMMER
Maestro Todorov has recorded numerous compact discs for Naxos, RENT Music, MMO, Danacord and Hungaroton and has also created several music productions for various radio and TV stations.
